Atkinson Youth Services is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation focusing on residential and educational treatment of special needs or abused children. Our Group Homes Foster Families and School serve both boys and girls. Our efforts include trying to help our children have good memories while they work on improving their lives.
Group Homes
WE have six state licensed group homes that provide a 24 hour residential therapeutic setting for six children each. Five of our homes operate as a family and have house parents. Two homes serve 12 boys and 4 homes serve 24 girls totaling 36 children at any one time. Our group homes served 81 children in 2008. These children come from many counties through out California.
Foster Homes
WE have 15 loving, well trained, foster families that provide care for our foster children. They are trained to provide a therapeutic setting for children with difficult behaviors. Our foster families served 50 children in 2008. These children came from several counties through out northern California.
Special Education School
OUR school is certified by the California Department of Education to provide special educational services to 48 students. Our school served 56 children in 2008. Our students are sent to us by many school districts in the Sacramento area.
Helping Natural Families
WE provide training and services to families needing and requesting such in order to reunify or preserve the family unit. Last year we provided services to 20 families<./strong>.
